Turnbull recovers but Rudd unshaken as preferred PM

I don't put a lot of store in the vanity polls, but they are interesting to follow, not least to see what everyone else says about them.

In our vanity poll this month we see a strong bounce back in the popularity ratings by Malcolm Turnbull while Rudd's show essentially no change.

Any fluctuation of less than 3% in this sample (about 1700 respondents) is random. So Kevin is stationary. But there is a statistically significant fluctuation in Malcolm's approval, largely as a result of his disapproval rating going down. I'm not sure what might have caused this. Perhaps it reflects the Grech incident receding into the past, or perhaps he is seen to be exerting control over his party.

While it is an improvement, a disapproval rating of 46% is not what most politicians would aspire to, nor an approval rating of 25%.

However, it has had little effect on the question of preferred prime minister.

The results to this question again haven't really moved in 12 months.
