Newman has a problem with women |
Men are much more likely to vote for Campbell Newman than are women, but where the difference is really evident is women 35 to 54.
I've excerpted some comments from women in that age group below. You can contrast their views about Newman and Bligh. Approval/Disapproval of NewmanDisapproveHis support of candidates who have said wrong things. His non disclosure of financial dealings of him as well as his wife's family. He has a list of industries he is supporting and manufacturing is not one of them. It is incredibly arrogant to think he should be premier when h's never even served in the state parliament. As mayor of Brisbane he has spent a lot of money on pet engineering projects while council has ignored basic issues like the need for pedestrian crossings, traffic lights and parking in the rapidly developing area where I work. The questions over his financial interests and dealings while mayor concern me also and he doesn't seem to get how worrying it is to people who lived in Queensland during the Bjelke-Petersen era.
I don't trust Campbell one bit he is a self serving egomaniac. Shallow policy platform. No plan being put before the people of Queensland and the outside parliament strategy didn't make sense. Nor his failure to understand that in his role it is not only important to have no conflict of interest but to be seen to have no conflict of interest. ApproveCampbell has a track record of achievement at BCC. He is concerned with getting the job done. I have more trust in him as a leader and competent manager. The ALP's hate campaign is indicative of Bligh's desperation. Approval/Disapproval Bligh
DisapproveI think there may be some things this government have achieved but it falls short of what could be done it is time. Issues such as the Health Crisis, Education gaps are not good enough. Slow progress is being made but it needs to be more. As usual leaders lie to get into power and once in all the promises go down the toilet. She has done a good job leading the state and does not focus on issues that I believe are important to Queenslanders. Putting aside the GFC she has increased our expenses and decreased our standard of living. She has not fought for this State at a Federal level. ApproveI think she's an smart and admirable leader, with personality, drive and commitment; she's a very fine role model in many ways for young women. I think she has faced misogyny from the Courier-Mail and had to clean up a lot of messes not of her making. I was impressed by her during the floods. If she wins this election, I'd hope to see some real action from her Anna Bligh has done her best to stop corruption whenever she finds it. She has also made sure that all schools get equal and good funding. Her new policies for education also appeal to me. I also think she did a great job with the floods. I like Anna Bligh (and Fraser). She was handed a poisonous chalice by Peter Beattie. Though she should have dumped all the dinosaurs in cabinet, like Robertson et al |
